Biological Sample Courier UK: Clinic to Lab, Same Day
A diagnostic sample has a window. Once it closes the result can't be trusted, the patient has to be sampled again and the clinic absorbs the cost. Our job is to get the sample to the laboratory inside that window, wherever the two are.
Our 40+ DBS-checked drivers are based in London and across the regions, and every run is one vehicle with one driver, so a sample from a surgery in Kent or a clinic in Leeds travels on its own, not on a round.
Courier Biological Samples UK-Wide, 24/7
We work 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. An evening clinic, a Sunday collection or a sample taken at 2am costs the same as a weekday run.
Courier for Biological Samples: What We Carry
- Blood and serum samples from clinics, surgeries and home visits to the testing laboratory
- Urine and microbiology specimens where the time between collection and the lab matters most
- Histology and tissue samples in sealed containers, carried upright and kept apart from anything else
- Swabs and diagnostic kits single kits or a box of returns at the end of a clinic session
- Research and clinical study samples to a named person at the receiving laboratory
- Veterinary and occupational-health samples the same direct run, whoever the patient is
Blood Sample Courier
Blood is the most common sample we carry and usually the most time-sensitive. Tell us when it was taken and when the lab needs it, and we'll book the collection to fit.
Specimen Courier for Clinics and GP Surgeries
Private clinics, GP surgeries, dental and occupational-health practices use us for one-off urgent runs and for the end-of-session collection, so the day's specimens reach the lab the same day.
Lab Courier: Scheduled Runs to the Laboratory
If you send samples every day or every week, we can set up a regular run with a fixed collection window and one point of contact, invoiced monthly through a business courier account.
Work our drivers already do every week
- •Pathology specimens: blood, tissue and fluid samples, from clinics to testing laboratories
- •Blood components in temperature-monitored containers and cool boxes
- •Empty transport boxes and packaging returned to the sender, ready for the next run
Couriers That Accept Biological Samples: What to Check
Not every courier will carry a diagnostic sample, and the ones that will don't all handle it the same way. Five questions sort them out.
- 1 Will they take diagnostic samples at all? Many parcel services restrict or refuse them, or only accept them on special account terms. Ask before you book, not at the counter.
- 2 Does the sample travel on its own? A sample loaded with a day's parcels waits in a depot overnight. A direct courier drives it straight to the lab.
- 3 Can they meet the lab's cut-off? Give the courier the time the lab stops receiving and check they plan the collection back from it.
- 4 Who is carrying it? Patient samples deserve a vetted driver. Ours are DBS-checked.
- 5 What proof do you get? You should know who received the sample at the lab, and when.
Which Couriers Deliver Biological Samples?
Broadly two kinds. Parcel networks may accept properly packed samples on their own terms, but the sample joins the general flow of parcels and is usually delivered the next day or later. Direct couriers, like us, collect the sample and drive it straight to the laboratory, which is what you need when the lab has a cut-off.
Couriers Who Can Deliver Biological Samples Today
For same-day delivery the sample has to travel on its own. That's how every one of our jobs works: one vehicle, one driver, nothing else on board, at a published price.
How to Send Blood Samples by Courier
- 01 · Pack it to the rules Patient samples usually travel as UN3373 Biological Substance, Category B: a sealed primary container, absorbent material, a leak-proof secondary container and a rigid outer box with the UN3373 label.
- 02 · Book with the lab's cut-off Tell us the collection address, the laboratory and the latest time it accepts samples. We plan the collection back from that time.
- 03 · One driver, straight to the lab The driver collects and drives directly to the laboratory, with nothing else on board and no depot on the way.
- 04 · Proof of delivery You get the name of the person who received it and the time it arrived.
Packing is the sender's responsibility. The official guidance is the UK government's packaging and transport requirements for patient samples (UN3373). Our guide on how to package a parcel for courier delivery covers the basics.
Courier Biological Samples Next Day Tracked to the Lab
Not every sample has to arrive today. If the lab can take it tomorrow, book a next-day or timed delivery: collected this evening, delivered to the lab by the time you choose, and tracked from collection to hand-over.
Samples travel in insulated packaging. If one needs a particular temperature range, tell us when you book and we'll confirm what we can do before you commit. See overnight and timed delivery and our guide to temperature-controlled courier work.

Fantastic service - absolutely saved the day and will 100% use again!
Excellent service. Request made 24 hours before the required collection and delivery, fully kept up to date, on time and updated throughout the collection and delivery. Thoroughly recommend.
Arrived early, delivered early. Confirmed delivery immediately on sensitive drop. They answer the phone, and are a million lightyears better than their competitors at everything that they do. Hard to fault anything.
So impressed with Red Eagle. They have been fantastic at communicating promptly and after years of using various unreliable couriers, it’s so refreshing to find one that’s so great at customer service, and pricing!
Excellent service – highly recommended!

We used Red Eagle Logistic Ltd to collect and transport a large donation of mobility equipment for Restart Mobility CIC. The service was excellent from start to finish.
Communication was very good, the collection and delivery were handled professionally, and everything arrived safely.
As a small organisation supporting people with disabilities, finding a reliable transport company is extremely important to us. We are very grateful for their service and hope to work with Red Eagle Logistic again for future collections.
Thank you from everyone at Restart Mobility CIC. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
I’m honestly so happy with the service I received from Red Eagle Logistics. I was a little worried at first because I’d never arranged this type of delivery before, especially as the medication was expensive and very sensitive to temperature.

I contacted them at very short notice to transport my vaccines from Croydon to Peterborough, and within about an hour of my enquiry everything was arranged and collected.
The gentleman who collected and delivered them was fantastic. He kept in communication with me throughout the journey and even took pictures at both collection and delivery, which really reassured me that everything was being handled properly.
My medication arrived safely, communication was excellent from start to finish, and their price was also much more reasonable than other quotes I received.
Very prompt, reliable and professional service. I’m genuinely happy I found them and will definitely use them again in the future. I would absolutely recommend Red Eagle Logistics. Thank you! 🙏🏽
Red eagle delivered my parcels with professional standards and on time. Would 100% recommend!

Biological Sample Courier FAQs
What is a biological sample courier?+
A courier that moves diagnostic specimens, such as blood, urine, swabs and tissue, from where they are taken to the laboratory that tests them. Samples degrade, so the run has to happen inside the time the sample stays usable, which is why a direct courier is used rather than a parcel network.
Do you carry UN3373 samples?+
Yes. Patient samples are normally sent as UN3373 Biological Substance, Category B, packed and labelled by the sender in triple packaging. We collect the packed sample and drive it straight to the laboratory, upright and with nothing else on board.
Can you keep samples cool?+
We carry samples in insulated packaging. If a sample needs a particular temperature range, tell us when you book and we'll confirm exactly what we can do before you commit.
How quickly can you collect?+
In London, collection is typically within the hour, day or night. Elsewhere you get a firm collection time when you book. Tell us the lab's cut-off and we'll plan around it.
Do you offer next-day, tracked delivery?+
Yes. If the sample doesn't have to arrive today, we can book a next-day or timed delivery, tracked from collection to the lab.
How much does a biological sample courier cost?+
From £35 for the first 10 miles, then £1.30 per mile, including VAT, for a car or small van. Harley Street to Watford is about £44.10, and to Birmingham about £184.50. Nights, weekends and bank holidays cost the same.
Can you do regular scheduled sample runs?+
Yes. Clinics, surgeries and laboratories with daily or weekly collections usually open a business account, which gives a fixed collection window, monthly invoicing and one point of contact.
