Pallet delivery moves goods that are too big or heavy to send as parcels — stacked and wrapped on a wooden pallet, then carried by a vehicle with the right access and handling. How it’s moved makes a big difference to speed, and to price.
Network vs dedicated pallet delivery
Most pallet firms run a hub-and-spoke network: your pallet is collected, driven to a depot, sorted overnight with everyone else’s, then sent out for delivery. It’s economical for non-urgent freight, but it adds a day (or more) and more handling — which means more chances for damage.
A dedicated pallet courier does the opposite: your pallet goes on its own vehicle and is driven straight from collection to delivery, with no depot and no sorting. That’s how same-day pallet delivery is possible, and why a dedicated run is gentler on the goods.
What affects the cost
Our same-day courier rate starts at £35 for the first 10 miles, then £1.30 per mile including VAT — but that covers a car or small van. Pallets need a bigger vehicle, so a pallet run is priced on:
- Distance — the miles between collection and delivery.
- Number and size of pallets — a single quarter-pallet is very different to four full pallets.
- Speed — same-day and timed delivery cost more than next-day.
- Access and handling — whether a tail-lift or extra hands are needed at either end.
The fairest way to price it is a quick quote rather than a generic table.
Getting a pallet ready
- Stack heavier items on the bottom, lighter on top, nothing overhanging the edges.
- Shrink-wrap the load to the pallet and add strapping for heavy or uneven loads.

Also check the courier is goods-in-transit insured to the value of your load, and ask about large or oversized items the networks won’t take.
